The Challenge. Master Audio
To the point of how audio quality makes a difference.
I offer the following.
I have stitched together three short clips from three different church sermons.
1 - The first is from the audio referenced above by the Rev. Pam Easterday. This is a short clip from the above link.
2 - the second is audio stripped from a Youtube archived Youtube video by Coral Gables United Church of Christ, Coral Gables, Florida. Original Video.
3 - The third is the audio stripped from a Youtube archived video from First Congregational United Church of Christ, Mount Vernon, Ohio. Original Video.
1 - A reminder. The first is audio recorded with the lapel recorder. My $45.00 sound system solution.
2 - The third is originally a live recording of the worship service later archived on Youtube. You are listening to exactly what is heard during the live online broadcast. This solution uses a remote camera hooked into the soundboard/mixer, then delivered online via Livestream. If you are interested in live worship (the progressive Christian church) take a look at Touch Church. In Your Pocket where I offer direct links, hints and alot more to live online worship!
3 - this is recorded in video with the audio recording from the camera itself. This is not a proximity microphone. Neither does this solution connect to the sanctuary sound system.
As for these three congregations, I have no connection except for listening or being the recorder of merit.
My wife was senior pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ when that worship/sermon was recorded.
Each week, I attend the live streaming worship of Coral Gables United Church of Christ. For me it is a mobility issue. Blind, I don't drive. That is a huge mobility barrier in small towns and rural areas without public transportation.
Third, I was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ for twenty years. They have a splendid history and current ministry.
This post is only about audio and clarity.
For, when used to greatest effect, online tends to level the playing field!
Lastly, the audio stripped from the Youtube video is offered at exactly the same 128 bit rate that is used for the first original audio-only recording. In other words, none of the difference in quality is caused by an inferior recording bit rate.
OK. Here it is. The audio sampler. You be the judge!
The Three Sermon Audio Sampler.
